Friday Fragments: Oct 14

Mommy's Idea
Happy Friday!  Since I feel like things are fragments almost all the time right now, this should be an easy post to write, right?  Ha!

*~*~*~*

I am starting to see signs of aging on my hands.  It's kinda weird.

*~*~*~*

I've been involved for many years with online communities.  I wrote about breaking up with one of those groups back in June.  Well, today is that site's last day.  There are a lot of mixed emotions being expressed by the members and by my friends.  When I left in June, I really left.  I logged out and didn't log back in.  I went to read a thread if someone pointed it out to me- but that was maybe 3-4 times.  I've been lurking daily since the announcement was made 2 weeks ago that the site was closing completely.  I'm sad about it but I already had my closure, my ending.  And I'm one to look forward more than back and I'm eager to continue to grow the friendships I've made with the moms that are choosing to connect through a Facebook group that was created to help us stay in touch.

*~*~*~*

Zach has a field trip on Monday to a pumpkin patch.  In the 2 years that Teagan attended this school, the field trip never happened.  If I remember correctly, it was cancelled both times due to weather.  Here's hoping that Monday's weather cooperates.  Jeff and I will be attending with him- we're all excited to ride the bus and have our sack lunches and enjoy some fun pumpkin time together!

*~*~*~*

Last year, I planted a small butterfly garden by our front yard light and this year we have some beautiful flowers and have even spotted a butterfly once or twice!

*~*~*~*

Our wedding anniversary is next week.  8 years of marriage.  We've been together 10 years.  And we're still in love and in like.  That's pretty cool.  No big celebration plans this year.  I'm kind of starting to think it would be fun to do a family trip to Gatlinburg in 2 years and visit the place where we got married.

*~*~*~*

I feel like there is so much I want to tell you guys about but I don't know where to start.  Life is just so hectic and busy right now.  I'm still swamped at work.  I'm still struggling to be as healthy as I'd like to be.  I'm still involved at church with several ministries.  I'm still involved in our newly founded Girl Scout Troop.  I'm still not cleaning my house- but it's starting to really bother me because it's to a point that I'm truly not cleaning to even the minimum standards I was keeping before.

*~*~*~*

Upcoming posts: the importance of facing things head on, the change that is public school, a tour of my gym.  And I'm always open to ideas.  I'm also feeling the need to do something really fun soon so stay tuned next week... maybe I can squeeze in something silly at some point.

*~*~*~*

I hope you've had a good week.  I hope you have a weekend you are looking forward to.  And I hope next week is filled with good things for you, too!

Hi Liz!!! Nice to catch up with you!

I once had a beautiful butterfly bush, except I didn't read how huge they would become so we had to move it and it didn't survive the transplant. Since then, I haven't been able to get one to grow. I'm already making plans for a couple of them in the newly expanded backyard. How many do you think I have to plant to ensure that one of them makes it?

I don't know if I've ever done a pumpkin patch visit. :-( Yay for Zach though.

something silly is a great relief for all involved - like I say - Lighten up. Pumpkins are the funniest of the vegetables.

Hmmm...when you have to "squeeze in" some silly fun, I say slow down and breathe! (Ha ha, look who's talking!) :D

I'm curious, what kind of flowers did you put in your butterfly garden? Did you plant from seed or transplants?

Happy anniversary for next week and enjoy the pumpkin patch outing! :-)

I know what it's like to be involved in lots of stuff that's all important to you and none of which feels like something you can or should give up, but if you are stretched too thin then it won't be just one or two things that suffer in the long run.

As for cleaning the house, there's 4 people living there, it's not just your responsibility! Yeah, ok, getting the kids to do anything actually useful at this stage is undoubtedly more trouble than it's worth, but the principle stands :-)

I'm glad you checked in, Liz.

Fingers crossed for the field trip! What a thrill for Zach, to have both parents all to himself on a school grip. (Tho I bet he'll wish Teagan could join you.)

Happy Anniversary!!

As Mr.4444 says, "We LIVE here; that's why its' messy." My house is pretty out-of-control lately, too. (Who am I kidding by saying "lately?" It's every day. There. I said it.)
