Weekend Goals

I have a long weekend ahead of me. Our trip to TN isn't going to happen. I'm very disappointed. This will be the 3rd family reunion in a row that we've missed. Teagan would have really loved spending time down there this year- the animals, the hills, the great outdoors, the farm... Oodles of room for Zach to run around and exhaust himself on fresh country air. Alas, it isn't happening. So now I've got this long weekend with nothing planned because we were going to be out of town and now... we will be home. Zach will be home with me Friday and Tuesday. Miss Lisa is closed. Monday is Labor Day. Jeff is going to take advantage of us being homebound by going away for an overnight trip to IL to help with planning for next year's dungeon (GenCon). Teagan will maintain her routine and still go to school on the days I am off. Which means I have time to CLEAN. I wonder if I can even get Jeff's folks to watch Zach one of those days so I have a full day to CLEAN. My living room is a whirlwind of toys right now. My dining room is clutter-hell since we moved the living room furniture. My bedroom is a disgrace. Zach's room needs attention because we took down the crib this past weekend. The kitchen needs a serious cleaning out. The bathroom needs a minor de-cluttering. I haven't had this kind of time at home with no plans since last winter when I revamped Teagan's room, cleaned out the kitchen, etc. Goals: 1. Clear out toys. Any toys that the kids don't play with, have outgrown, etc will go away. Bag it up, take it to Goodwill. I will include Teagan in this process as I have before by asking her to pick out some toys that she doesn't play with that we can donate together. 2. Completely clear off the couch and ottoman. I have a sectional sofa that should seat 5 people. Most days, we are lucky if there is room for the 2 of us on the extreme ends of it. 3. Clothing in my bedroom. My bedroom is seriously out of control. I have clothing that needs to be donated, clothing that needs to be hung up, clothing that needs to be folded and put away. I have at least 3 loads of clean clothes in this giant mound by my bed and it must get taken care of. In the process, I will unearth the ottoman for the rocking chair that has been moved to the living room. I will also discover a large storage tub that is mostly empty and is ideal for storing excess bedding. 4. Rearrange Zach's room. Now that we have taken apart the crib, I can move his furniture around to make the room more of a playspace and "his." I have boxes and boxes of clothing that Zach has outgrown that need to find a new home. While there is a lot more to be done, those are my 4 main goals. If I think of it, I'll get pics up and share my progress over the next 5 days. In my head, I'm planning out my course of action for tomorrow... wish me luck!

I got the cleaning bug myself. Don't know if it's the weather or my stage of pregnancy.

We can do it! Good luck with yours...

Ah, bummer. TN sounds much more fun than cleaning. You're an optimist!

Put your house on the market! Even if you don't plan to sell it, the open houses force you to get the cleaning done!! =)

I have a better idea:

Screw cleaning.

Take Teagan to the movies, then out to dinner (ok, reverse that)

And then take time for yourself by taking a hot bath with candles and reading a book you love the most

(and then blog and tell us it was great...and my idea)

:-)

Goals are fantastic!! Just don't commit to getting too many accomplished in to short a time. Stay realistic. Sounds like you have that covered! Best of luck!!

That sounds like a whole lot that you're gonna try to fit in. Don't wear yourself out too much. Take a little bit of time to sit back, put your feet up and enjoy even 20 mins of "me" time, even if you have the whole day to yourself for cleaning. Enjoy your holiday weekend:-)
