Cooking With Kids and FitCity Indy
One of the cool things about connecting with other bloggers is when you find someone who supports you and you can support them in return.
I recently received an e-mail from a woman with Fit City Indianapolis. My friend Amy from The 4th Frog had given her my name as someone who might be interested in using their recipes, reviewing them, and sharing my findings with my readers. And I definitely am!! And even more appealing... Fit City is having a contest! Review a recipe and you are entered to win fabulous prizes! Now, the contest is really going to appeal to people local to Indianapolis since the prizes include local events. But the recipes are really open for everyone to check out.
So I went and perused the Recipe Archive. And discovered something REALLY cool. You can search for recipes by age group. It's a cooking with kids recipe archive! Granted, the ages it gives are higher then my kids- but looking at the "6 and older" age group indicates that the recipes are definitely ones I can do with my kids.
Sometime this weekend, the kids and I are going to try out one of the Fit City recipes in the 6 and older group. Could you click over there, look at the list, and leave a comment letting me know which recipe you think the kids and I should make? I promise full coverage of results- complete with pictures- in return!

I think it would be great to make the "Teeny Turkeys", however I know my daughter would prefer wheat bread over the pumpernickel..not sure about your kiddos....perfect time of year....
I checked them out and I like the Teeny Turkeys, too. They look the most appealing to me. But then I'm not six. Six year olds would love these, though!
Man, it's too bad we're so far apart; Miss Chef loves cooking with my nephews! And she did a cooking with kids demo this summer at the farmer's market. She put paring knives into the kids' hands and let 'em go. Of course, the youngest was 7, but he looked like a 5-year old, so it was pretty impressive.
Anyway, I expect pictures of your cooking adventures. I'm sure Teagan looks adorable in a kid-sized apron!
Oh I wish I lived closer to you, too, Flartus!! That would be such a fun get together!
Well, I appreciated the interest in the turkeys... I thought they were cute, too. But Teagan nixed them.
She likes the trail mix, fruit kabobs, and ants on a log. The best part? Zach will be able to help with each of those!
That's an awesome idea - having recipes by age group!
I'm the "woman from FitCity Indianapolis" and I just want to thank you all for checking out the FitCity recipes. I hope you and your kids enjoy the cooking together!
P.S. The Ladybug Apples are a good snack too.
P.P.S. You can submit your own recipes too if you have family favorites.
