FriFrag 11.13

1. OOOooooOOOOoooOOOoooo..... It's Friday the 13th!! Eek! Are you superstitious? I know the cure to keep you safe from any hijinx and bad luck on this day of misfortune... Fragments! Read mine! Comment! Then head over to visit the lovely and delectable Mrs.4444 and read her Fragments and comment! Then visit and comment on 11 other blogs that are Fragmented. Trust me. This works. I've done it every year since... well, that part doesn't matter. What are you doing? Read! Comment! Visit!! *** 2. First of all, THANK YOU to those who took the time to vote for my little old blog so I could land a spot on the Top 50 Indiana Blogs!! I came in at #29 and am so thrilled! There were 220 blogs entered. And now I get that really cool badge over there. Fun! Click on the badge to see the other rankings if you are so inclined. And again- thank you for your votes and the kind comments left on the voting site! *** 3. I was also given a lovely award by my lovely friend, the lovely Mim.

I am supposed to pass this along to 15 other bloggers... here's what I'm doing instead. The first 13 bloggers who read this and leave a comment can be awarded the Lovely blog award! I'll even link you into this post to make it official!

4 Lettre Words (She has a necklace giveaway going on- go check it out!), Stacy's Random Thoughts (she is always fun and Princess Nagger is a hoot!), Single, Bereaved, Broken and Tenacious (this lady is awesome- I'm totally caught up reading her story. Don't miss out.), The Human Race 600 (She's funny! Check her out!), Noisy Colorful Lively (oodles of great mom stuff and I found a favorite post already- about children's books- and she's an automatic hero because she's a foster mom!), Confessions From A Working Mom (title alone says it's right up my alley!), Just Heather (she also runs Inexpensively.com and her blog is fun and you can follow along on her Alphabet Dates with her husband and get great ideas-like having a Marshmallow B-day Party and she's having a giveaway right now, too!), It's All About Balance (lovely thoughts on parenting- I think I can learn a lot from this mama), Sophia and Suri's Place (seriously one of the prettiest families I've ever seen! And she's local to me! Wahoo!), the blogosphere's own yogini, Braja of Lost and Found in India (she deserves the Lovely award- and also a Sesame Street India Doodle), Unknown Mami (actress, mom, and seriously entertaining blogger- she's going through a struggle right now and could use some friendly support), Michelle of Just Eat It (Just discovered her recently thanks to FriFrag and I loooove her opinions and her kids are gorgeous and she just seems like someone I would just love to be in proximity to and would hope she'd come over and say hello to me and I would think that was so super cool.)

That's 12 of the 13! And Friday the 13th is almost over! Ack! Sorry, Garret. You might not publish the award on your blog, but you are just going to have to accept that I am giving it to you anyway. I can't have 12 awarded awards on Friday the 13th with only 15 minutes to go until the day is over! So deal with it! *** 4. I loaded the Glee Vol 1 CD to my phone from Rhapsody. I LOVE IT. If I'm feeling at all blah-blah, I just turn it on and I'm soon singing and dancing away at my desk, in my car, wherever. The show is so fun and their renditions of these tunes are freakin' fantastic! *** 5. Happy Birthday to Sesame Street! I adore Sesame Street and have for as long as I can remember. My mom will tell you that my favorite PBS show was Mr. Rogers. And I adore Mr. Rogers still. But I also love Sesame Street. I know the Classic DVD's are supposed to just be used as nostalgia for adults but my kids love watching the old episodes- you know, back before there was an Elmo! *** 6. Did you catch the Google Doodles celebrating Sesame Street? Different ones each day. And if you go check out the collection of Google Doodles, you can see the Doodles done for Sesame Street in other countries. Which is just wicked cool. ***

7. I also highly recommend the You Tube Sesame Street channel if you want to reminisce... and check out this video with highlights of the 40th season. I dare you to watch it and NOT smile!

*** 8. Apparently I should have just done an entire post on Sesame Street because here's one more thing! The UK has fallen out of love with Sesame Street? Say what?? It's funny- the article and the comments really indicate that Sesame Street still holds a beloved place for many in the UK but the BBC seems to think that isn't the case. Hm. Oh well. Given the global popularity of Sesame Street in 140 countries (I guess it's 139 countries now), it's really the UK's loss. *** 9. Many thanks to Recycled Dad for introducing me to Thrift Books. Go check out Recycled Dad- he's parenting different generations of kids (hence the "recycled dad" thing, see?). And definitely go get your fill of books at Thrift Books! I spent $16 and got 4 books. 3 are hard cover, 1 paper back. I got 2 Stephanie Plum books, a parenting book, and "Eat, Love, Pray" or whatever it's called. All were books that only cost $.01 and then I paid $4 for shipping per book. Saved $1.50 by ordering all books from the same distribution center. Some of the books are noted as coming from libraries and when you buy the book, you are helping the library. Which is very cool. Recycled Dad, recycled books! *** 10. I did something the other day that I've never done before... I voted in the People's Choice Awards! I was inspired because I wanted to vote for Glee. And then I ended up voting in many other categories. It was fun. I was cracking up at the pics of the actors and actresses- they seemed to find the worst pics possible for so many of them! The really funny part will be when the awards show airs- I won't remember who I voted for (aside from Glee, of course). *** 11. Holy cow! Survivor was GOOD last night!!! *** 12. I'm typing this part on Thursday night and my voice is shot. I've been a little congested in my throat lately- nothing serious. Went to Music Team tonight and by the end- could barely sing and my voice is very weak right now. Grrrrr..... *** 13. My blog was pretty heavy this week- big, deep topics. I'm super thankful for Mrs444 and the Fragments today because I needed some fun!! Happy FF!!

1. I'm so unsuperstitious it's not funny, but I have quite a fondness for Friday the 13th, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

2. I voted early on, congrats on your ranking :-)

3. No thanks, I've already got one! [/Monty Pythonesque French knight]

4. Still haven't seen any Glee. I'm guessing Caitlin might like it yes?

5 - 8. More muppets than you can poke a stick at! I went off Sesame Street when Snuffleupagus was proved real to the adults, spoilt all the fun that did :P

9. Yay for cheap books!

10. I've never done that either...

11. ...or watched Survivor.

12. Get well soon!

13. Hope you have a fabulous Friday, mine's been a bit ordinary so far. I'm thinking I might try this Fragmenting thing myself tonight seeing as the day is rapidly getting away from me and I haven't come up with anything of substance to blog about.

Congrats on your #29 status! WooHoo!! :)

We love Sesame Street here, too - Princess Nagger says she's too old for it now, but I'll catch her watching it every so often anyway! ;)

The People's Choice Awards can be quite addicting... I've been voting over there for a couple of years. :)

I'll definitely check out Recycled Dad and Thrift Books - I'm intrigued!! :)

Happy FF! :)

Congrats on the two awards/acknowledgements this week!

And yes, Survivor rocked last night. I sooooo want Russell to go. But then again, it would less fun to watch his crazy antics.

I'm always late to life, but I didn't know there were Glee cd's out. Very cool.

Those Google doogles for Sesame Street were great.

Congrats on your ranking!! Woo hoo!!

I'm not superstitious. Don't add me to the blog awards. As you know, I just don't do awards. =) Yeah, I know I'm strange.

One of these days I'll have to watch Glee and see what the hype is about.

Visiting from Mrs.4444's...

I love an "award with an incentive"! That's what I do on my blog, too :)

I am a huge Glee fan too... I should vote for them! I am obsessed with "Puck"'s character. Yum, he is hot!

My girls and I totally love Glee, too!
Alas, they've outgrown Sesame Street but it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I LOVE vintage Sesame Street. Alligator King, Princess Number 9, that crazy baker guy falling down the steps, Wanda the Witch and Nancy the Nanny Goat...

Wish they'd show reruns.

11 Banana Cream Pies! I loved that one on Sesame Street :) as well as a few hundred other snippets.

I really like the Google Doodles, but I had no idea what they were called - Thank you!

Survivor WAS good!

I think I prefer classic Sesame Street to the Sesame Street of today. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm old and grumpy but the newer episodes don't hold the same sort of magic for me! I like that the Mexican Big Bird is green and has an orange and pink face *L* The Dutch version is Blue which throws me off every single time!

Delectable, huh? You crack me up.

I like the old Sesame Street. Those episodes take us back to carefree days, don't they?

I have been working on the same book for months (literally, and it's actually a very good book). I guess I just prefer blogs these days :)

Hey, I've been kind of inactive, so I totally missed the great plug/link you gave me here. Thanks so much, and happy new year!
