Zach: 6 months old

Prior to blogging, I kept a message board to keep up with friends and family through pregnancy and mommyhood.  I'm working on bringing those posts to this blog. 











My baby... he is such a happy and special guy. Rarely cranky. Rarely cries. Sleeps and eats well. He's a dream. He's the kind of baby you would order from a catalog if such a thing existed. He is easy to please and loves to smile and laugh. He is laid back and so undemanding. I don't know what I've done to be so blessed with such a unique child. 

Zachary Robert- Happy 1/2 Birthday!!

You have brought so much joy to our home, to our family. You have a special smile and laugh for your sister- and that relationship between the two of you is even more inexplicable than trying to describe the love I feel for my children. Everyone told me that adding a child didn't subtract or divide the love- it mulitplied it. You have definitely proven that. You have helped our family feel complete. Teagan taught us love and you have taught us joy.

Teagan's Trip to the Dentist

Teagan had her visit dentist visit today! I was so proud of her- she did AWESOME!

We had been reading Dora's Trip to the Dentist and we've ben really talking up the dentist thing. She liked seeing all the things explained in the book in real life right in front of her. 

She wanted to go first. No hesitation. Hopped in the chair, listened to everything the hygienist told her about the instruments and stuff. Got to wear sunglasses (so the light wouldn't get in her eyes). Wore the bib. Got her teeth "counted." The hygienist scraped, poked, polished, and flossed. The dentist poked, pulled, and said she looked good! Said she has excellent spacing. Teagan followed every bit of direction given to her and never cried or whined. I was so impressed with my girl!!

IndyMoms hosted an invitation only night at the Children's Museum! They held a contest for 42 moms to win 5 tickets and they invited their employees (that's where I came in) and families. They only had 2 exhibits open- Robots and Curious George. They also had the big slide open- a slide that comes down that curved staircase in the front (they are doing a big "vacation" theme thing right now). And face painters. And dinner- fruit salad, mac n cheese, tossed salad, chicken tenders, cookies. Jeff and Christy came along. And we had SO MUCH FUN. I'll get pics loaded up later. I got to meet tons of moms from the site.

The event was from 6-9 and we were there the entire 3 hours and my kids never had a single meltdown. We were blessed last night!! Lisa knew our plans for the evening so she did T's hair in pigtails to make it extra special. Zach got passed from mom to mom and loved all the attention. They have big Curious George images up on display overhead and he was very taken with those giant, colorful balloons. 

Jeff is eager to go back- they have a comic exhibit opening in May!

Teagan getting her face painted at the museum event- she has always refused offers of face painting so we were really surprised when she asked to have it done and then sat patiently during the process!!








There is a giant slide set up on the main entryway stairs- we had fun going down!!

Teagan Turns 3

Prior to blogging, I kept a message board to keep up with friends and family through pregnancy and mommyhood.  I'm working on bringing those posts to this blog. 

It has been pretty darn fantastic. There just aren't words for the love in this family... 

Last night, Grandma and Uncle Daniel came to town to stay the night. We met up at Cici's Pizza for dinner- and Briney met us there, too. Came home and T opened a present from Briney- Moon Sand! She played with it Sat morning and had a lot of fun (that stuff is messy though).

Saturday morning, we took the kids to get portraits done. I haven't had T's done since she was 18 months old... oops. I look forward to sharing the pics with everyone... it will be a couple weeks, though.

Then went to lunch and Christy came to join us.

Came home and the kids took naps. Then T opened presents from Grandma. Then out to dinner.

Teagan chose Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It is one of her favorite restaurants. We talked about the birthday thing- she has witnessed their birthday routine many times. The have a saddle on a wooden stand, the birthday guest sits in the saddle and they announce the birthday to the surrounding tables and ask everyone to give a big "Yee haw!" Well, Teagan did NOT want them to do it. We agreed and promised to not even tell them that it was her birthday. Then we get there... and T decides she wants the waitress to know it is her birthday but she doesn't want the saddle and yee haw. By the end of the meal... she wanted the saddle and the yee haw!! I'll post pics and even video later in the week...

Then Grandma and Daniel left for Chicago and we headed home. T is really enjoying this celebration of her last day being 2 and I'm finding that it's really helping me find closure, too. We are ready for day one of being 3!! T went to bed knowing that tomorrow will be filled with surprises and presents and fun. Jeff is working very hard in the kitchen right now- making a cake for T. An Ariel (Little Mermaid) cake... the kind with all the little stars of icing that make up the decorating on the cake. I am so proud of him. He is putting his all into doing this for his little girl... melts my heart!


Jeff was up until 2 a.m. But he made T a very special cake and I am so incredibly proud of him!!!

 

Grandma brought a recipe to make a cake with Teagan... it was an angel food cake cut into layers and then you spoon a mixture of cool whipe, crushed pineapple, and pudding mix on each layer. Grandma made the pudding first so it ended up being really soupy- but Teagan had a GREAT time scooping the glop onto the layers!! Teagan wanted Mommy to help... And then we had some fun! I got caught- that gloppy stuff was yummy! LOL! Pics from our birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I still need to load up the video of Teagan on the saddle. She does not look happy in the pic below but she really did enjoy herself!! Zach went a little nutso for Grandma's cold, wet tea glass. So she let him try a piece of ice... And here's T on the saddle, listening as they announce her name and birthday... Pics of Jeff working on T's cake... have I mentioned how proud I am? And the cake was really tasty too and you can't go wrong with homemade icing!! I hope this is something he will continue... what an amazing tradition we could have! Apparently, Jeff doesn't like the lighting in our kitchen... And here is T, on her birthday, opening presents from Mommy, Daddy, and Aunt Christy... Zach was on the sidelines while she opened gifts... if we hadn't been paying attention, he would have disappeared in a pile of wrapping paper! Teagan in her new princess gear that Aunt Christy got her... Waiting for Daddy to bring out her special cake Checking out Ariel, blowing out candles... Funny about the cake- Teagan wasn't able to make out what the image was on the cake at first!! I need to load up that video, too. Poor Jeff... but she has been asking for her Ariel cake every single day since!!
