Stumped

I didn't blog last night. A friend and her little boy came over- he'll be 5 in Oct. I made chicken nachos and she made us a blueberry cake that was DIVINE. She cooked it right there in my kitchen, easy-peasy. So we had it fresh out of the oven and I about melted into my chair with the first bite. So, so good. She used 2 pints of fresh blueberries in it!! They left, I spent my time with Teagan (painting her nails and toes with glittery polish) and got both kids to bed. I sat down at the computer to write... and I was tired. I hadn't slept well the night before. When Jeff is gone, I almost always have a night or two of complete paranoia regarding my family's safety. So I was laying in bed, thinking of all the horrible things that could happen. I was running scenarios of what I would do in each situation. I made sure all doors were double locked- checked them at least 3 times. Made sure all dog & baby gates were shut and latched. In the past, I've been known to even set a "booby trap" by the doors so there would be a loud noise if someone opened the door. So you can imagine that I did not sleep well Monday night. Thankfully, the distraction of having company over Tuesday night and kids being VERY ready to go to sleep after being up late and having great food and conversation with a friend meant that I was exhausted, too. Just after 9:00, I decided it was my bedtime, too. My kids weren't even asleep yet! But they fell asleep very quickly after realizing Mama was turning off lights, shutting down the house, and going to bed. I didn't blog, I didn't do dishes, I didn't fold laundry. But I slept. And it was a very good sleep. I was out by 9:30. Zach woke at 10:30 to potty and I only half remember getting up and helping him and getting him back to bed. All I wanted was my head on my pillow- I knew I'd been woken from a really good sleep and possibly great dreams. The alarm went off at 6 and I hit snooze. I knew we needed to get moving. Christy was coming over around 6:30 so she could have blueberry cake for breakfast with us and then ride with us to drop off kids at school and ride along to work. We plan on going out for Italian for dinner tonight at a place in downtown Indy that is participating in a 2 week event called Devour Downtown. A bunch of places are offering special menus- some offer a $30 per person menu and some a 2 people for $30 menu. No matter- the deals are awesome. For example, we are organizing a party to go to Fogo de Chao next week because the Devour Downtown special is $30 per person. It's usually $60 per person to eat there! And now, here I am at work. I'm in a hugely fantastic mood- I've even been singing to my co-workers. In 2 hours, I'll be at the gym for abs class. End of the day, pick up kids and off to dinner. But I don't have a subject to write about for today. I'm not feeling a pull to share something- I've got nothing deep or personal to Pour My Heart Out over. I've got no special pics to share for Wordless Wednesday. I'm stumped. Photobucket

Glad you were able to sleep so soundly. Interesting what our minds do to keep us awake at night--totally irrational if you ask me.

You're funny -- for having nothing to write about, you sure shared an awful lot of good stuff, lol! Glad you had a wonderful evening, and were able to get really good rest :)

This is bloggable stuff! Moods like this are so important to share. And singing to your co-workers, that is awesome.

I would definitely like this blueberry cake recipe....definitely.

I, too, obsess when I'm home for several overnights with just me and the kids (and we even have a home alarm system). So much so, that while my hubby is a GenCon- I'm going to PA to visit family so I'm *NOT* home alone!

I sleep horribly when my dh is out of town, too. Which is so funny b/c he sleeps like the dead and wouldn't hear anything anyway. LOL

Prior to today I don't think I have ever admitted to setting the boobie traps. I had to laugh when I read that and say to the screen "I do that too, Liz!"

Glad you got some sleep, and thanks for the tip on Fogo. I'm going to have to look into that! What a steal!

Glad you got some good sleep finally!

Those restaurant deals are always so much fun. We have them here in Orange County once a year and I love it! I'd never eat at those places otherwise.
