Date Night

Jeff and I enjoyed our date night. I enjoyed myself so much that I forgot to take pictures. We just had fun and enjoyed each other's company.

It was a low key evening and, I think, a perfect evening for my husband. We went to a movie- Little Fockers. We laughed a lot. We shared popcorn and drank soda. We held hands. We went to Jeff's favorite local pizza place- Pizza King. And we were done a little after 8:00. We couldn't go home yet... but there wasn't much to go out and do on New Year's Day. A lot of businesses were closed. And we weren't feeling very creative. So we went and did something we always enjoy... We went to a bookstore and got hot chocolate (I got a froofy coffee) and just strolled around, looking at books.

It was a perfect evening. We laughed and talked and held hands and shared interests. We got home around 9:30 and the kids were asleep and had been well entertained by Christy for the evening. I love date nights. I love that we have a friend we can trust to take care of our kids. I love that we have family close by who can take care of our kids. I love having time with just me and my husband- no having to share our food with the kids, no having to rush off to take someone potty, no having to answer the same question 20 times in a row, no dealing with meltdowns or sibling fights.

Jeff and I also do dates with our kids. Teagan loves to go on a date with Daddy. It can be as simple as going to run an errand- but it's just the 2 of them. I'll take just Zach to the grocery store. It's the same idea as spouse date night- the undivided, exclusive attention.

I go out with Christy every other week or so. Same idea- it's a chance to relax, kick back, and stay connected to my friend. Date night with my husband is important to my marriage. A date with one of my kids is important to my relationship with them. A date with my friend is important to my friendship.

Date night. It's not just a funny movie (although, it was a very funny movie).

When was the last time you spent a few hours alone with someone you love?

I love date night! Definitely trying to have them more often this year, though my husband and I do a lot of date nights in if we can't get a sitter or to save some money.

I should send this to all my married friends that never have time for me anymore. ;-)

I think it's really great that you and Jeff still make a point to go out and spend an evening together.

I want a date night.
It's been so long since we've done this, that I wonder if we've forgotten HOW.
Time to re-visit this idea of dating my husband.
Thanks for the reminder!!

Sounds like a wonderful evening!

Actually, John and I have similar plans for Wednesday evening. He got a gift card from Barnes and Noble. So our plan is to go to Applebee's for dinner and then to Barnes and Noble to look for a book or two that John wold like.

we do the book store thing too...and sometimes a trip to Target, sans kids, is just as good too ;)

We need to have more date nights.
