Friday Fragments- Finally!

Mommy's Idea

I think my last Friday Fragments post was March 9.  And it was a bummer because heavy stuff was going on in the life of someone I know.

This should be a much more uplifting post!

Today is the first Friday in June.  Do you know what that means?  It's National Donut Day in the US!  How have I celebrated?  Not at all.  But I do think it is interesting to note that this day has an actual history beyond donut makers wanting to sell more donuts.  According to the source of all true knowledge and facts, Wikipedia, "National Doughnut Day started in 1938[1] as a fund raiser for Chicago's The Salvation Army. Their goal was to help the needy during the Great Depression, and to honor The Salvation Army "Lassies" of World War I, who served doughnuts to soldiers."

Ironically, or maybe it's divine intervention, today is the day that the "Made to Crave" Facebook book club has started up!  We are starting out with the Introduction and Ch 1.  The discussion is already going strong.  If you've read the book, own the book, or want to pick up the book and join in, let me know.  If we are already friends on Facebook, I can add you right away.  If we aren't, email me about joining.

Teagan has become obsessed with cartwheels and handstands.  We have to enforce some rules- like no cartwheels when you are on concrete, no cartwheels in the living room (playroom is fine, though).

I got to spend some time with a good friend of mine last night- Ashli.  Our schedules have been such that we keep missing each other.  We usually sing together each week but lately, when I'm there, she's not.  When she's there, I'm not.  Last night, we were the only 2 who came to sing for this Sunday so it meant we had ample time for hugs and catching up.

Speaking of time with friends, I am very excited for a double date night tonight!  I'm very fortunate to have become good friends with Jennifer- and even more exciting is that Jennifer's husband and my husband get along really well.  They start talking and they totally speak the same language and can talk and talk and talk the night away.  It's been ages since we all 4 went out so it will be good to have dinner with them tonight!  Plus, my kids are super excited for Aunt Christy to come babysit.

I've got a lot of "deep thoughts" brewing about inside of me.  Some of it dealing with... when you start getting close to people, you find messiness and how do you deal with that?  Some of it dealing with... hypocrisy.  Some of it dealing with... living what you believing.  Some of it dealing with... application of rules.

Do you have a Farmer's Market near you?  I am thinking about doing a weekly feature of Farmer's Markets.  If you visit yours, I would love for you to do a guest post for my blog.  Would also love for any farm connections who sell at a Farmer's Market to do a guest post.  All you really have to do is take pictures and some notes, share what you bought, what you saw, what worked for you and what didn't.  Maybe share a few tips.  If you're interested, let me know!

I loved doing cartwheels as a little girl! What fun and good that you've warned against doing them in dangerous places!

I am going to check the book out.

Glad you got to spend some time with your friend and I'm wondering if that means you two are singing a duet Sunday? :)

Have fun on your date!

You sound busy as usual, Liz!
Ari has been trying to do summersaults too.
Enjoy your date night!
As for investing in a person whose life is messy--you can set limits as to how much you want to know and still be supportive, I think.
Have a good weekend.

I was a cartwheel fanatic when I was a kid though I never did master the handstand...Long, lanky arms made it difficult I think!

Enjoy your double date night! :)

Dunkin Donuts is giving away a free donut with purchase of a drink today. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we don't have one where we live.

Handstands and cartwheels are very important skills.

I have only ever heard the name "Teagan" once before. If I had a daughter, that would have been her name. Instead I was blessed with three boys. Where did you hear it first?

My sister and I were obsessed with cartwheels and handstands when we were Teagan's age too!

June 1 also marks the first day of My Birthday Month...in case you were wondering!

We had to institute some gymnastics rules too after an injury from a back bend attempt!

I live right by the State Farmer's Market...my little suburb has one too... I need to go more often, but I'm really bad about it!
