Eat Your Colors!

My motivator for getting back on my healthy eating track is all about eating my colors everyday. March is National Nutrition Month. The best way to make sure you are eating nutrient dense food is to eat stuff that grows and is colorful! Eating your colors is a great way to get in your 5-6 servings of fruits and veggies. And when you're focused on getting all that produce into your diet, there isn't as much room for junky stuff. Yesterday, I ate my colors. Today, I'm going to eat my colors and do the food photo journaling I've done before- so stay tuned today because I'll be sharing pics on the blog each time I eat! Eat your colors with me! Leave comments on this post or on picture posts or on my Facebook fan page about what colors you've eaten today (and, no, colorful candy does NOT count). On the Facebook page- you can share pics of what colorful foods you're eating! Happy colorful eating! Photobucket

6.30 p.m.

Imagine a picture of a veggie sub from Subway. 6 inch... wheat bread... spinach, tomato, pickles, olives, green pepper, red onion, jalapenos, banana peppers, light mayo, brown mustard. Picture it on a kid sized picnic table and imagine my kids' Subway meals on that same table... Also, imagine my Sobe 0 calorie yumberry pomegranate water. I took the pic. My phone battery died. The pic did not save. *sigh*

3.24 p.m.

Mmmmmm... avocado with salt.

2.00 p.m.

Lean Cuisine Thai Style Noodles with Chicken - added a little sriracha sauce to give it some heat!

12.30 p.m.

Had 2 of the 3 bloks in this Clif Shot Bloks thing. It's kind of jelly-like or gummy-like. It's an electrolyte energy booster to get you through an intense workout. This would be awesome to keep in a pouch on a 5K for a halfway through boost. I punked out a bit by the end of Boot Camp today so my trainer, Bridget, had me eat 2 of the bloks at the end of my workout.

11.30 a.m.

I usually have a whole wheat mini bagel and PB before a workout- complex carbs and protein. However, my bagels are moldy! Blech! And I'm really not super hungry. So, I'm going to have a small scoop of PB and a little granola instead. I'm feeling very energetic so I should be well fueled for my boot camp workout today!

10.30 a.m.

Mmmmmm.... grapefruit. The "coffee cup" is an empty cup to squeeze the juice into after I eat the fruit!!

8 a.m.
