Mmmmmm.... grapefruit. The "coffee cup" is an empty cup to squeeze the juice into after I eat the fruit!!

When I was a kid, I used to love grapefruit. My grandma would cut it in half, sprinkle sugar on it, add a cherry to the middle. She would cut the edges and I ate it with a grapefruit spoon. After I ate it, we would squeeze out the juice a spoonful at a time. Then turn the half inside out and I'd eat the remaining pulp from the rind.

Yum!

If you pop it under the broiler for a couple of minutes (watch it closely), the sugar melts and carmelizes a bit and the whole thing tastes wonderful!!

That sounds delish! I also love grilled fruit... I wonder if you can grill grapefruit??

Do you eat the whole grapefruit and then drink the juice? Do you put any sugar on it? I'm asking this because I am trying to get more ideas to eating healthy!

I eat the whole grapefruit and then squeeze as much juice out of it as I can. I don't add any sugar. This is an Indiana Valley Red, I think. It's isn't as sweet as a ruby red but not as tart as a yellow. If I was eating it at home, I might flip the rind inside out and get the rest of the pulp like I did as a kid... but that's too messy for work!!
