Redhead!

I think I finally found the shade I like for going back to red hair! I first tried a Garnier Nutrisse color- some sort of dark auburn or something. The color was too metallic for my taste and quickly became a weird kind of purple in the sunlight. The worst was that the color never fully came out of my hair. When I first colored it, I rinsed for a solid 20 minutes and it wouldn't come totally clear. Very close... but not quite. Every time I used a white towel at the gym- which would be 4-5 times a week- I would leave all kinds of pinkish orange marks all over. Thankfully, they washed out completely. But given that the color didn't last much beyond 2 weeks and that color bleed situation, I knew I wouldn't use it again. Next, I went back to L'Oreal Excellence Creme. Which rinsed fine and had staying power in terms of not coming off on my towel. The color was better than before but not my fave. However, the color didn't hold on my gray-brown roots. Not good! This time, I went with the classic Clairol Nice 'N Easy. I'll know better in a few weeks what I think. So far, I looooove the color. It rinsed well. In a couple of weeks, I'll know if it has staying power for my gray and dark brown roots. Hopefully, we have a winner! And of course, new hair color means a goofy photo shoot! Photobucket

Love the color! I wish red didn't have to be so difficult to a) get right and b) stay in our hair. I have some light hairs that I honestly don't know if they're gray/silver or if I'm just paranoid but I've tried to go somewhat red and never been quite thrilled with the results.

Anyways, looks good! I hope it sticks around like you want!

(My word verification is "dismall" - I'm going to assume that's like dis mall and not dismal)

Gorgeous color. Looks terrific in the sunlight. I only tried coloring my own hair a few times but could never get it right, so I resorted to the hairdresser. I spent a lot on coloring my hair over 25 years but man, when it's right....it's awesome. Congrats

Is Garnier the brand with the commercials that has all the really angry-looking 20something walking around, tossing their hair at you?

They scare me.
