I Don't Care

I am so, so tired of hearing about Michael Jackson's death, Michael Jackson's kids, the cost of Michael Jackson's memorial service, the drug use of Michael Jackson, the debt Michael Jackson left behind... I'm MJ'ed out! I can't turn on the news without some "new" report of "new" information in regards to his will, his kids, his father, his siblings, his doctor, his nanny, his incubator. The man is dead. Let him Rest In Peace. I wasn't a huge MJ fan. I appreciated his music and respected the impact he had on the industry. I do believe he changed the landscape and had major influence on the music we hear today. But I never bought an album or downloaded a tune or went to a concert or wore a red leather jacket or even owned a shiny glove. I'm just so tired of every news outlet going on overload to snatch up any little hint of "breaking news" in regards to Michael Jackson. I never thought I'd long for the day of being inundated by Jon and Kate "news." (And for those who didn't get it--> that was total sarcasm. Don't even get me started on that situation!!)

Luckily, we don't bother connecting cable at the RV parks so I'm only exposed to breaking news on my Google home page. It's still annoying that 3 out of 10 stories are about MJ. Ugh.

I'm with Garret...the last thing I watched on tv was a 2 1/2 Men rerun last week. Being unplugged has definite advantages!

Agreed. But let me just remind you Liz... every June 25th from now until Kingdom Come will be the "Anniversary of the Death of Michael Jackson," so buckle up.

And yet, the "news" keeps going on about it. There must be some audience for it, but I don't know any of them.

That's the thing that kills me... I was flipping past CNN last night and my least fave of any "news" program was on- Nancy Grace. And her coverage was MJ. I had the news on while I got dressed this morning and in the 2 minutes the TV was on- an ad for Larry King's special tonight- on MJ's possible murder.

Part of it is annoyance and not caring. Part of it is truly to just let the man and his family be! Leave them alone! And stop clogging up my airways! This is why I prefer reality TV. Because reality tv is SUPPOSED to be stupid and pointless and inane. When I flip on Big Brother, my expectation is distraction entertainment. When I flip on CNN- I want to learn about Honduras, domestic issues, the war, Afghanistan, and so on. MJ is not news!! At this point it is the family's personal business and needs to be left alone! The news was that he died. Now that is over and done with!

We have satellite turned of for the summer because television sucks between June and September. More like April...but anyway.

I was a HUGE MJ fan...but I refuse to read any stories about him in the daily paper we get.

Like you said..let the man rest in peace.

God!
