I love love love my Nikon D40. It's less expensive than the newer models but it does everything I need it to do. I did a lot of research before buying it... and since it's one of the older models, there are great package deals out there- mine came with 2 lenses, for example.
Those are fantastic pictures! The colors are spectacular. I hate it when you see a wonderfully vivid flower and you take a picture and it's just...orange. You did a really good job.
Garret- that's why I love that enV Touch so much. The 3.2 megapixel camera acts as a point and click for me for those moments when I'm not dragging my Nikon along. I take the Nikon when I have a hunch I'll need/want it. And if I had the enV, I'd be really covered on the camera front! My Choc3 does ok with pics but it's only a 2 megapixel cameraphone so it isn't awesome.
Excuuuuse me, but have you checked out my Aug. 21st post? *I* got sunshine for *my* flower picture. (smirk)
I just thought it was funny that you were having kind of the same conversation here that I just had w/Alix on my blog. I love this little bloggy world.
I'm still in love with digital cameras in general--they capture amazing amounts of detail, but more importantly, I can take a zillion pictures to get the one I want, without spending a fortune in film. Which is pretty much how I got my butterfly picture.

My only wish would have been different weather. It was a cloudy, gray day. These would have really popped with some sunshine!
Yes, very awesome photos. I was never into the real powerful cameras. I like the slim pocket cameras with as many functions as possible.
