The Morning After
For the first time in years, I was hooked on the Oscars. The glamour, the lights, the set, the movies, the stars, the stories... I liked the changes to the ceremony. I liked the messages given in the speeches. There's stuff to talk about this morning instead of just having an awards night pass by!
I actually stayed awake until midnight- made it all the way through the entire show. And what an ending!! To see the cast of Slumdog Millionaire, standing in their seats, unsure of what to do or where to go. The emotion of that cast with each award won last- you could feel how connected they are, how much they worked together.
That's the part of theatre I miss. Working together on a project, putting your heart and soul into a piece of art, into a group of people, exposing yourself and being vulnerable in a plethora of ways... to create art. The universal language.
While none of those Hollywood types read my blog... I still offer my congratulations!

Larry HATES award shows, but I always like to watch. For different reasons though... I like watching how these overpaid, self-indulgent, self-congratulating, egomaniacs embarrass themselves when there is no script to read; and of course the fashions are always enjoyable - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I did get a peek at a few awards at the end last night. I was truly impressed by the theater and gorgeous sets. I liked how the legends came out to announce the major nominees (although they were mostly squirmy, hesitant, unprepared and stilted as they went through their individual introductions - even Sir Anthony Hopkins seemed uncomfortable). The sets were gorgeous and the overall production was well done. Spare me the political speeches though. GAG!
I absolutely agree with you...Slumdog Millionaire seemed to bring a lot of heart back to the Oscars. I was so happy for them...and every other Oscar winner of the evening.
It was a good night. Who knew Hugh Jackman was so versatile?!
Hugh Jackaman has a great thatre background- I think he starred in Oklahoma recently?
I thought the men presenting Best Male Actor did the worst out of the 4 presentations. I thought the women for Best Female Actor did the best. Even though Shirley MacLaine is a nutjob, the moment between her and Anne Hathaway was magic. See- that's what is so great about Anne. She gets the history of those who came before her. She gets how awesome Shirley's career was and all that she's done.
And Angelina Jolie was sooooo boring. She seemed so snobby and reserved and not-human. Bah.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Slumdog Millionaire!! Definitely in my top 5 movies of all times!! And I loved seeing the kids onstage too.
