I Shouldn't Be Allowed To Choose!
Teagan loves the Children's Museum. It's one of her absolute favorite places to go. So we thought it would be great to spend part of our Saturday down there. Sure, it was insanely crowded last time- but that's because Batman was making appearances. It certainly couldn't be as crowded on a random Saturday in March, could it?
Yeah. It could.
It was packed. And then some. The worst crowds were in the cafeteria this time. We really manged through all of it with minimal damage.
But I'm starting to really doubt my ability to make plans for the family. My luck isn't good. Jeff and I both get stressed in crowd situations.
We did have fun- rode the carousel, ate lunch (Teagan ate like she hadn't been fed in a week), played in Playscape (the under 5 area) for a long time- water table, sand area, climbing area, etc. Participated in a small little singalong thing and Teagan decided it was time to go home.
Next up will be dinner and a quiet evening at home, watching a movie.
But I'm done planning. Because there is some weird current out there so that the mommy universe somehow knows what it is I'm choosing and all of Indy and tourists show up there, too!

Oh Liz, you know it's just because of your constant tweets on Twitter...all of your and Teagan's fans were there to see you!
I would have been there, but I had this assignment to fulfill for Miss Chef.
Seriously, it sounds like you had fun anyway. And Teagan certainly did. The Mommy Universe hasn't abandoned you entirely.
I too tried to make it there to see you but I was lazy today.

We went to the Powerhouse Museum to see the Star Wars exhibition a couple of weeks ago - on a Sunday afternoon. I was convinced it would be crazy busy but was resigned to enduring it because we were running out of weekends in which to go.
It was fine. We didn't have to line up at all to buy tickets, there was plenty of room to move around in the exhibition rooms and the kids never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to use any of the interactive displays.
We need to swap activity planning mojos :) (But you'll have to give mine back before I plan again!)
Best Children's Museum Tips:
We are members of the CM and the BEST time to go is Sunday morning. It opens at 10. NO ONE is there. Watch the WaterClock turn over, then go up to PlayScape (? I haven't been there for awhile) because they only allow a certain number in at a time. Between and 11 and 11:15, start moving the kids to the food court. Yes, you and everyone else have only been there for 90 minutes, so no one is thinking about eating; they're only thinking about making sure they see everything. Move in to the food court no later than 11:30 and you'll beat most of the lunch crowd. The rest of the time can be spent wandering the museum. We never stayed any later than 3 p.m. The kids started crashing at 2:30ish and we moved towards the exit. We spent 10-15 minutes in the gift shop (optional), and then we'd leave.
KPCL- those are the EXACT tips I used to follow until our weekend mornings started getting packed with dance class and sunday school. Dance only goes through May so we should be able to beat the crowd in the summertime.
I LOVE the carousel at the Childrn's Museum. My grandmother used to ride it as a little girl when it was in Broad Ripple Park.
The carousel is ALWAYS what we do first. Can't set foot in the place without riding the carousel right away!! Thankfully, we are members so we ride for free!
Hey -- who knows where to find those Shower Steamers you've talked about? I've recommended them to friends, but am not sure where to buy them.
