Bloody Tissues and Christmas Cards

That's what was in my hands when we left church today. After church, there was a pancake brunch. Pancakes, sausage, applesauce, syrup, butter, lemonade, iced tea... all the good stuff. And after eating, all the kids want to run around and play. Zach had climbed up on a step. And turned around and started walking, forgetting he was on a step. So he falls from the step and, as he seems consistently prone to do, he lands on his face. In the past few weeks, he has done the face plant and busted his lower lip... and again last week he busted his upper lip. This time... the nose. I scooped him up and held him to my shoulder. I pulled him back to check him and he looked fine. A minute later... the nosebleed. All over my shirt, down his face, on his hand. I rush to the bathroom and start getting him cleaned up. Thankfully there isn't too much blood and the bleeding is very slow and ends quickly. As we are getting coats on to head home, I decide to grab our Christmas cards to take with us. Our church has a set up so you can easily give cards to others in the church without mailing them. And I was wiped out. Something about injuries and blood just takes it out of a mom. We get to the car and I look down at my hands. Bloody tissues. Christmas cards. And I knew it would make a great blog title!

We had a great time!

I AM VERY EXCITED!!

This feels like a Big Deal! I am psyched! Remember my giveaway at Thanksgiving? With the winner announced that Friday? Go re-read that blog post. And make sure you read the comments. Specifically, read the LAST comment. Nancy Castaldo, the author of Winter Day Play, found my giveaway and left a comment and is sending me a copy of Keeping Our Earth Green. I'm all about finding ways to be more earth-friendly and teaching my kids to get into easy habits that benefit our planet so I am really excited about this book!! But did you see? A published author of a book on the bookshelf in my home found my giveaway on my little ole blog! How cool is that??

My Personal Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Fairy!

A friend at work made a special treat for me. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge. It is heavenly. The thing that makes it so amazing is that she uses my all time favorite peanut butter. Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter from Peanut Butter & Co. I discovered this stuff a while back at my local Super Target. They have since stopped carrying it so I've been in withdrawal for a couple of years now. My good friend who lives in NYC has been to their sandwich shop. Can you imagine a menu full of peanut butter goodness?? Anyway... this unreal fudge is sooo heavenly. I can't stop snacking on it. Sneaking a piece here and there. I even moved it to the other side of the room in a tin up on a high file cabinet. But I can't stop. And then she snuck in here and put MORE in my tin!!! Heaven... I'm in heaven... I have this huge weakness for fudge because it is the one food I absolutely canNOT make. I think everyone has at least one thing that should be super easy that just doesn't work. For years, my mom was vexed by Rice Krispie Treats. I was in college before I knew they were supposed to be square and not blobby. My conclusion is that I am lacking some sort of fudge requirement in my DNA. This lack of fudge-oton in my system means that I lack the ability to make fudge but that my body goes into overdrive to absorb any fudge that might be within a certain range (say... a few miles).
