May 22, 2008

Prior to blogging, I kept a message board to keep up with friends and family through pregnancy and mommyhood.  I'm working on bringing those posts to this blog.

Mother's Day weekend, Zach woke up sick that Saturday. We had plans to go to the library and Farmer's Market but his vomiting indicated that he wouldn't be going anywhere. Teagan and Daddy got to have a fun day- they went to the library and then spent the afternoon bowling and doing some other fun things together. Then we woke up Sunday morning and... Teagan had pink eye. Can't win! So we start her on eye drops ASAP and Zach is still puking. Monday morning rolls around and I wake up puking and Zach is still puking and Teagan's eyes are better but we can't send her to daycare carrying our puke germs. So Teagan goes for an overnight at Grandma's house. Jeff drives her there (2 hours) and drives back home. By the time he is back, he is sick, too. So Jeff, Zach and I spent Monday afternoon, night and Tuesday morning in bed, feverish and sore. What a weekend! What a Mother's Day!

Speaking of Mother's Day- it is too bad we weren't healthy because it would have been a great day. Jeff took Teagan out for my breakfast at our fave local breakfast spot (The Roost). They brought home breakfast for me. Gave me a gift- an LCD photo frame (I've been wanting one for a long time). Teagan and Zach had made me a card at Lisa's. So it was a nice day- aside from the vomit.

We renewed our memberships for the Zoo and the Children's Museum. Went to the Museum last weekend. We were able to stay from 11 until 3:30! It used to be that we didn't las tmore than 2 hours. But we went 2 hours and managed to most of the exhibits- Dinosaurs and Trains and Playscape (where she really investigated and played in ways she never has before) and the Carousel and the play area up by the Carousel and... it was a lot of fun!!

Zach is fully mobile- crawls around on his hands and feet. With his skin sensitivities, I think he doesn't like to crawl on his knees because they get sore and red. Pretty smart, if you ask me! He is starting to pull himself up on furniture and will soon be cruising around, I'm sure. The goal this week is to move everything up and clear everything off!! We had already moved Teagan's toys up a shelf and made sure that anything of Zach's was on the bottom shelves but that plan might not last long.

He is a co-sleeper now. Goes to bed in his crib and then ends up with us at his first waking. He has hit a growth spurt so he is night nursing quite a bit. And he is such a cuddly baby at night!! Teagan wanted us close by but was a hot baby so she never wanted you too close. Zach likes to be held and hugged and kissed while he sleeps!! Love that!!

As a bonus Mother's Day gift- to make up for the day being so lousy- Jeff got me a FANTASTIC new camera!! It's a Nikon D40 and it came with 2 lenses and I am super excited to learn how to use it! It's a DSLR instead of a point and click so I should be churning out some impressive shots soon! We played with it a little this morning and the pics look amazing. Can't wait to download and share!
