Feel Good Fragments

IT'S FRIDAAAAAAY!!!!! It's been a kind of long week so I am really looking forward to some down time this weekend. ***** Teagan's been having a rough week at school. Pick up yesterday with plans to go out to dinner and we find out that BOTH kids had a rough day at school. No eating out. In fact, because we'd been up late the night before for church, I had a hunch we were overtired. So we came home, the kids were given food to fill bellies- cheese sticks, yogurt, applesauce. And then we put them to bed at 6:35. Teagan was asleep by 6:50 and Zach was asleep by 7:30. And we had to wake them up this morning at 6:20 to get ready for school. ***** Need a break? Looking for something to help you focus, relax, chill out? Do Nothing For 2 Minutes No scary faces or anything- it's 2 minutes of waves and beach sounds. Can you sit still and quiet for 2 minutes? I really enjoyed it. I put in my earbuds and focused in on the quiet with my eyes closed. I spent some time talking to God- prayers of thankfulness. I sat and just stayed quiet. It was a nice start to my day and it would be a great thing to incorporate into my daily routine. ***** Today is the 25th Anniversary of the Challenger explosion- where were you when you heard the news? 2 of my friends from church were actually in high school in Florida and were outside watching the launch and saw the explosion as it happened. I was home from school- sick. TV and radio hadn't been on all day so we had no clue what was going on. Went to school at the end of the afternoon to get my assignments and that's when my mom and I found out what had happened. ***** I had some fun with some silly online stuff and posted on my personal Facebook page yesterday. I finally did a few of the "album memes" and also made myself into a drag queen. Album instructions: YOUR ALBUM COVER: 1 - Go to Wikipedia and hit random article. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. 2 - Go to quotationspage.com and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album. 3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”. Third picture no matter what it is, will be your album cover. 4 - Use picnik.com (free online photo editor) or your favorite photo/art software to put it all together. (I used Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.) 5 - Post it with this text in the "caption" and TAG the friends you want to join in.

And my drag queen me- Sassy Sunshine. You can create your own at RuPaul's Dragulator. Back in college, I got an actual makeover by drag queens into a drag queen. Jim and I hung out at this gay bar in Cincy called The Dock and they did a fun night where they made over a girl and a guy into a queen and we had to perform and everything. It was insanely fun and I'd do it again any day. In fact, I loved it so much that when the time came to get rid of my old prom dresses, I gave them to the queens at The Dock! *****

I think I've come up with an idea for Teagan's birthday. It's totaly unique, will be for just a few kids, and those who join us will come away with a really cool project. So stay tuned! *****

This weekend, I've got some fun stuff going on with friends and am looking forward to church. And down time. Hopefully we get to have a movie night tonight- it all depends on how the kids do at school today. Have a good weekend!

I think two minutes of quiet would be great medicine. Let's see if this ADD person can handle it!

I don't think I could sit still for two whole minutes. ;)

Somethings don't change, about once a week, my junior in high school comes home, eats, and crashes. They are exhausted!

Enjoy your weekend!

The sound of waves breaking is one of my most favourite things, 2 minutes isn't anywhere near long enough! Being still and quiet is so not a challenge for me, in fact it's my preferred default state ;-)

My bedside clock has ocean sounds as an alarm option, it's not very effective at getting me out of bed :P

We were traveling back to Sydney from the US when the Challenger thing happened, in fact I think we were actually in the plane and found out when we landed.

I love that you follow your kids cues even when it means scrapping your own plans. Most parents do it, I know. But you are very matter of fact about it. No whining about it.

It's birthday season here, too. Think we're going to have Robbie's party at a gymnastics center. Annie? I don't know. She said she didn't want a big party -- good, neither do I. Then she proceeded to list 10 kids she wanted to invite! Can't wait to hear more about Teagan's.

I FAILEd at the Do-Nothing site, I'm ashamed to say. I think it would be a very cool App for the iPad/iPhone. Just might have to look for that.

Here's to a nice, relaxing weekend for you and your family :)
