Things I Wouldn't Mind Getting For Christmas

Gift cards for Chateau Thomas Gift cards for Target and Kohl's (need to keep buying new clothes as I shrink!) Gift cards for The Running Company (have to buy new running shoes every few months) Gift cards for Meijer (great selection of wicking workout gear) Gift cards for Amazon.com (so I can buy songs to listen to while running) OK, gift cards aren't very exciting so I'll get a little more detailed. Size 12 Merona casual dress pants in khaki, tan, black, chocolate brown. Cute size large tops. (Blows my mind, still, that my size 14 pants are too loose. Crazy!) The magic jeans in a size 10 wouldn't hurt, either. Classic Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Thomas. That's my general favorite wine but there are many, many others that I love there, too. Like the Barbera or the Cabernet Franc Ice Wine or the Tempranillo or the Vintage Port... Size 9 Mizuno Wave Universe 3 or size 9 Mizuno Wave Elixir 5. Wide width. Size large workout gear. Sports bras, wicking socks, wicking long pants, wicking long sleeve shirts. Wicking, duo-dry, and so on are the key words. Except for those running pants from Meijer- those I need in a medium. As for music, I can't get totally specific because my taste changes all the time! Nutella. I seriously love the stuff but it's expensive so I don't like to buy it very often. But if it showed up in my stocking... A soft cover for my phone. Something like this, perhaps. ***** What are you hoping to find wrapped in pretty paper and topped with a bow this holiday season? (Really hoping my husband leaves a comment with some ideas for what he wants for Christmas...) Photobucket

I've started a wish list for myself on Pinterest, but there's not much on there at the moment. It was really more for me to play with the new website than a serious wish list but I will probably add a few more things to it soon.

There will be but 4 presents under our tree this Christmas. And they will be all for Aylah, should her mother decide it fits with her schedule to let her come to see us. My children have this year decided to display what they perceive as fine adult behavior and will be treated in accordance with how they are acting and the things they have done - to themselves and, most importantly, to others. I have decided, in the true spirit of Christmas and in celebration of our Lord's birthday that giving presents is not in the plan this year and that the commercialism of the holiday will not be exploited in my house for the first time in my 27 adult years. And this may just be the tradition going forward. I have come to realize this past 6 weeks with all I've been through that it is time to stand for principles and values and truth....and that's what this Christmas will be about for me. And I look forward to it more than you can imagine.

Sorry...had a couple of more thoughts after I posted this. I have already received my one and only Christmas present...the most important and valuable one I've received in all my years of celebrating Christmas. My health. For the last 6 weeks I have prayed for my illness to be gone and for my prior good health to return. God has answered my prayers and there has been no greater gift that I have known. If we don't have our health we have nothing - our homes, our money, our trips, our clothes, our jewellery, our cars - they mean nothing. And I don't think one can fully understand that until they face a health battle. So...I am enjoying my Christmas present every day. And I am remembering and appreciating everyone who TRULY cared and cares about me because they deserve my attention and my time. And you, Liz, with all your thoughts and prayers and good wishes are one of those people. That's why I've chosen to ramble here - oh lucky you. There aren't many of my online friends that I would put into this category...but you are one of them. Even though I may not comment much, I read your blogs and posts almost every day and love following your journeys and adventures and ups and downs and family stuff. People like you are a little mini Christmas present every day of the year :)

Lynn, thank you for your comments and your kind words. Personally, I totally applaud your stance. We're scaling back this year for Christmas- mostly because there just isn't a need for us to go out and spend right now. I'd prefer our money go to those who have needs that need fulfilled. And if I had adult kids who weren't acting in the way I'd been expecting... they wouldn't get anything from me, either. I see it the way we handled the bullying thing. Might sound harsh to some but, as parents, we know our kids the best and have to be the ones to make those decisions in response to the choices they make.

That's a much more practical list than mine.
