Zachary

Today, we go for Zachary's procedure. Read here if you aren't aware of the history. From there, we went to a pediatric urologist on Jan 14. He had an ultrasound which answered the immediate, urgent issue- no tumors on the kidney or bladder. Took blood and urine and waited for results. Results were that there is nothing wrong with his blood or his urine. So the next step is this procedure. Cystoscopy. From WebMD: Cystoscopy is a test that allows your doctor to look at the inside of the bladder and the urethra using a thin, lighted instrument called a cystoscope . The cystoscope is inserted into your urethra and slowly advanced into the bladder . Cystoscopy allows your doctor to look at areas of your bladder and urethra that usually do not show up well on X-rays. Tiny surgical instruments can be inserted through the cystoscope that allow your doctor to remove samples of tissue ( biopsy) or samples of urine. Small bladder stones and some small growths can be removed during cystoscopy. This may eliminate the need for more extensive surgery. From what the doctor has told us, the most likely cause of the blood in his urine (which we haven't seen since that last occurrence in January) is that something has grown too big or hasn't grown big enough. Chances are that whatever they find, they can fix while in there. Teagan spent the night with Mimi (Jeff's mom) Monday night. She will get to school bright and early Tuesday morning and have a normal day. I know they will take extra special care of her since the school is well aware of our situation. We have to be at the hospital by 6 a.m. This means leaving home at 5:30 a.m. Surgery is scheduled for 7 a.m. He will be fully under anesthesia. I've never had to do this with my babies. Once everything is done and we are on our way home, I'll post a brief update to the blog. So prayers, please. Good thoughts, healing meditations. Whatever you've got. Thank you.

It doesn't matter what the reason, having your baby go into any kind of procedure is so hard for a parent. I'll be holding you all up in prayer today.
